About The Program

This exciting 8-week summer balances hard work with weekend travel, day trips in the Highlands, and Scottish cultural activities. As a UC Irvine or UC Los Angeles student, you can complete two quarters of physics for engineering or life sciences while experiencing the wonders of Scotland. Ideal for any student who requires physics as part of their degree, such as biology, pre-med, engineering, or neuroscience. At a traditional music party, get to know students from all over the world. On campus, tap into your inner Harry Potter at the main building—a real-life Hogwarts. Glasgow is in the center of Scotland, just an hour from Edinburgh and the Highlands. On weekends, pack a picnic and head out to see some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Hike Bracklinn Falls through the woods then stop in town for a pub break. Visit a 13th-century castle with whimsical decor. Or nap on the beautiful sands of Ayr Beach on a warm day.

Where you'll study

Attend the alma mater to some of the world’s most renowned innovators: physicist and engineer Lord Kelvin, economist Adam Smith, and pioneer of television John Logie Baird. Among the UK’s earliest universities, parts of the University of Glasgow feel like a set out of a Harry Potter movie. On your way to classes, you’ll pass by elegant spires, gothic-arched windows, epic colonnades, and halls where Albert Einstein once lectured. In other areas, you’ll find the modern labs, sleek steel and glass structures, and top-tier facilities one would expect at a leading school for international research. The main campus is located in the posh West End of Glasgow about two miles from the city center.
