Housing

In Sydney, you have the freedom to choose housing that best suits your needs. Housing options include apartments or dorms on campus, or privately arranged off-campus rentals and housing. Most UC students have lived off campus while studying at the University of Sydney, as university housing can be difficult to secure. The International Student Support Unit (ISSU) at the University of Sydney provides an accommodation advising service to assist you in finding off-campus housing. Some students have lived in the residential colleges or in university-affiliated housing. These students have reported favorably about International House and Sydney University village, but also say that they can be expensive. Before departure, you’ll arrange housing with the help of the campus housing service.

Apartment

In addition to apartments, about half of all exchange students opt to live in share houses surrounding the university. Similar to a shared apartment, a share house is an independent living space where you may share bathrooms or kitchens, for example. This is a common living arrangement for young working professionals in Australia.
