Course Description
This course analyzes family dynamics in occidental societies with particular emphasis on Latin America and Chile. Students explore families as institutions, considering the traditional notion of family and its cultural changes due to immigration, inequality, and technological advances, among other aspects. Students examine the relation between gender roles/familial structure and the political atmosphere that helps to shape this structure.

Course Description
This course provides a critical analysis of the works of prominent Andean poets significant to the cultural history of Latin America: Pedro Prado, Pablo Neruda, Pablo De Rokha, Gonzalo Rojas, Stella Díaz-Varín, César Vallejo, Vicente Huidobro, Gabriela Mistral, Blanca Varela, Soledad Fariña, Juan Eduardo Eielson, Jaime Sáenz. It examines the symbolism, content, and structure of their works, and examines the personal and historical contexts in which they were written. It also compares and contrasts the authors, paying special attention to the poets' identities with regards to gender, class, and ethnicity.

Course Description
This course examines different types of fictional and academic texts in which traditional peasant and indigenous knowledge associated with the medicinal plants is present in a broad corpus of poetry by Chilean women and members of the Wallmapu of the 20th and 21st centuries. It elaborates an ecology of epistemological knowledge or pluralism that allows the dialogue between popular and scientific knowledge, linked to religiosity, poetry and magic.

This course explores the history of Chilean society and the state between 1900 and 1990. Course Description
This course provides a study of the fundamentals of the origins of human biological variability based on the relationships established between cultures, their biology, and their environment. It provides elements for understanding the biological phenomena related to human evolution and its development in the Primate order, considering the plurality of its conditions. Other topics covered include: paleoanthropology, the fossil record and early cultural evidence; microevolution of human populations, specifically in the Americas and the Southern Cone.
