Course Description
The course has three themes. The first theme introduces central debates about the contested concept "development" - what it is and what it should be. It presents dominant development theories and critique against these as well as a historical overview of how development theory and practice have changed over time. The second theme focuses on political development and it introduces basic democracy theory. The question on whether democracy can and should be introduced from outside/above is discussed. Apart from illustrating theoretical debates, the development of policy and international development cooperation within the field of democracy is discussed as well as the role of democracy in development cooperation. The third theme addresses the issue of aid and how theory/research and practice/aid affect each other. An historical overview of aid and development cooperation is presented to illustrate changes over time. The theme introduces central concepts that explain how development cooperation is organized. The present focus on sustainable development and measurable goals is given particular attention, including a discussion of the sustainable development goals.

Course Description
The course provides a broad general knowledge in high frequency applications, especially those used in radio communications. The fundamentals are introduced without penetrating the electronics or design details. The different parts are treated as functional blocks defined by their physical properties rather than their electronic properties. This not only provides a basic understanding of the radio receiver or the cellular phone but also the requirements placed on the used circuits. Advanced measurements are carried out with spectrum analyzer and vector network analyzer in laboratory experiments to study selected building blocks.

Course Description
There are few organizations today, private and public, that are not somehow affected by digitalization. Most of today's managerial work requires knowledge and toolsets to manage the different aspects of the omnipresent reshaping of the organizational landscape that is digitalization. Digitalization, however, has different meanings for different stakeholders in any given organization and it may span from automation to transformation of core processes. Digitalization has the power to disrupt established business models and to create new, never before seen, business models. This course aims to provide an insight into the technological and managerial landscape that information technologies are building today.

Course Description

Migration is and has been, a significant influence on European cultures and societies. This course acknowledges this from two main perspectives. On the one hand, how conditions of migration have been represented in film and television – in different national and historical contexts. On the other hand, how migration has affected film production itself, not least regarding how film workers have moved from one country to another, finding new arenas for exploring both their creativity and identity.

Course Description

The course providers an introduction to classic differential geometry, important for further studies in the subject and in relevant areas of physics. The course treats the geometry of curves and surfaces, especially in three dimensions. In particular, the concepts of curvature and torsion are studied. The course covers: The geometry of curves in Euclidean space, their curvature and torsion and how these determine the curves. The geometry of surfaces in Euclidean space, their first and second fundamental forms, the Gauss map, principal curvatures, Gaussian curvature and mean curvature. Theorema Egregium and a deep analysis of geodesics and their behavior both locally and globally. Gauss-Bonnet's Theorem: two different local versions and the famous global version.

Course Description
The course provides students with understanding and knowledge of the mechanisms of heat transfer and the methods, analytical and empirical, being used to analyze and predict heat transfer and temperature distributions. Students are also trained to apply the theory on engineering problems. The course covers heat conduction, convection, thermal radiation, condensation, evaporation/boiling, and heat exchangers. The heat conduction part includes general theory, fins as well as transient heating and cooling processes. Convective heat transfer presents the governing equations, similarity laws, forced and free (natural) convection. Laminar as well as turbulent cases are considered for ducts and immersed bodies. The chapter on thermal radiation includes general theory of radiation, black and non-black bodies, grey bodies, view factors, radiative heat exchange between non-black surfaces and gas radiation (participating media). Basic theory of film condensation is presented and influence of various parameters on the condensation process is described. A brief description of dropwise condensation is included. Evaporation and boiling cover pool boiling, forced convective boiling, two-phase flow and heat transfer in ducts and tubes. Empirical correlations are presented. Various types of heat exchangers in engineering applications and their classifications are presented. Theory and methods for design (sizing) and performance evaluation as well as analysis of heat transfer equipment are provided.

Course Description

This course examines health, lifestyle, and medicine from cultural analytical and ethnographic perspectives.  The course covers current societal issues relating to illness, diagnosis and well-being in contemporary and historical societies. Students discuss these issues in relation to different cases such as the meeting between doctor and patient, living with chronic disease, controversial biotechnological diagnoses and treatments, and discourses on risk and responsibility. The course is based on current research in ethnology, medical anthropology, and cultural studies, including questions about the body, illness experiences, disability, ethics, and the new health economy. Lectures, seminars, and group exercises cover the theoretical understanding of how aspects of identity, class, gender, ethnicity, and age intervene in medical treatments and lifestyle patterns.
