Course Description

This is an introductory course in Quantum Mechanics. It starts with a brief historical background and discuss the basic ideas and postulates of quantum theory. Schrödingers wave equation are then introduced and students learn how to solve it for potentials in one dimension, such as wells and barriers. This is followed by concepts and formalism of operators, observables and measurements in quantum mechanics. The course ends by discussing the quantum model for an harmonic oscillator and introducing the hydrogen atom as a basic example of "round," three dimensional quantum mechanics.

Course Description

This course discussed classical solution methods for first order equations. After this, linear equations of higher order with constant coefficients and first order systems are studied. Power series solutions are introduced for linear equations with variable coefficients. The last part of the course focuses on general theorems about existence and uniqueness. These theorems are important since most differential equations lack explicit solutions.

Course Description
The course deals primarily with economic decision making concerning consumption and production. The course covers the underlying principles that guide an individual's optimal consumption decisions under both certainty and uncertainty. This leads to the utility maximization and expenditure minimization problems faced by an individual which, in turn, determine individual demand. Next, the course covers the underlying principles guiding the optimal production decisions by firms in both the short run and the long run. This treatment leads to the cost minimization and profit maximization problems faced by a firm which, in turn, determine firm supply. The course also covers general equilibrium in a simple exchange economy and the problems faced by a monopolist in terms of pricing and bundling (price discrimination). The course is concluded by an extension of the monopolist's problem to the Cournot model.

Course Description
This module focuses on attention, memory, language, thinking, problem-solving, cognitive control, decision-making, and awareness. Through theoretical studies and practical exercises, this course conveys knowledge about the structure and function of the brain and key areas of modern cognitive psychology such as attention, memory, language, cognitive control, emotions, and social interaction. The understanding of normal function is the primary focus of the course, but clinical examples are also used as they provide substantial illustrations of normal functioning. Furthermore, the course provides students with knowledge of relevant research methods within the area and a major emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary nature of the subject.
