Course Description

This course is designed for students who are able to write around 100 basic kanji characters to study around 100 kanji characters and to practice reading and writing sentences using these characters.

The course is designed for students who have already learned the first half of elementary-level grammar. The aim of this course is to enhance reading and writing skills as well as to acquire the ability to use elementary-level vocabulary and grammar. The course is designed based on the sentence structures and grammatical patterns learned in the textbook, Elementary Japanese for Academic Purposes Vol. 2 (Lesson 13 to 18).

Course Description

This course provides intermediate econometric techniques used in empirical analysis, including least square estimation, serial correlation, simultaneous equation, granger causality, panel data analysis, logit regression and difference-in-difference approach. We focus on practical training using personal computer and statistic package of either Stata or R. Grade is determined by the terminal paper test and a report of empirical analysis.

Course Description

This course focuses on the Supreme Court of Japan. The first part of the course presents the origin, structure, and functions of the Supreme Court. The second part of the course presents the role it plays in the Japanese legal system and provides an overview of the most important cases and decisions it has made. Depending on participants' interests and on the circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic, a class might consist of a field trip to the Supreme Court of Japan.

Course Description

This course aims to provide deep insight into marketing in the digital environment. The first part of the course is based on lectures which consist of three parts (1) outbound marketing, i.e., companies reaching out to consumers, more specifically online advertising, (2) inbound marketing, i.e., consumers reaching out to companies; and (3) social media marketing. The second part utilizes case studies that illustrate various aspects of digital marketing. The knowledge and insights are drawn from the instructor’s practical experience as an advisor for multiple companies and teaching experience in the MBA program.
