This course provides a study of Chinese historical celebrities, including representative politicians, ideologists, strategists, scientists, focusing on their careers and profound influence on future generations. The course uses celebrities in Chinese history and abstracts of works related to celebrities as teaching materials, including: Confucius and THE ANALECTS, Laozi and TAO DE JING, Sun Tzu and THE ART OF WAR OF SUN TZU, Qin Shi Huang and THE BOOK OF QIN SHI HUANG, Sima Qian and BAO REN AN SHU, Zhuge Liang and SHI SHI BIAO, Xu Guangqi and NONG ZHENG QUAN SHU, Sun Yat-sen and PUBLICATION OF MIN BAO.

This course uses lectures, discussions, demonstrations and visual materials to explain gender theories, discuss gender equality issues, and practice feminist methodology. At the same time, it uses the latitude of social gender to analyze problems, solve personal puzzles and social problems, and promote social equality. Topics include gender overview, gender in visual culture, gender differences and gender equality, beauty and power, love and marriage, family and work balance, ways to construct gender culture.

This course develops communicative ability in Chinese by presenting language structures, functions and related cultural knowledge as well as by training listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through communicative tasks. In this course, the focus of which is learning pronunciation and basic grammars, students are exposed to various basic sentence patterns and functions by engaging in simple dialogues and conversations. The learning process not only increases the students’ command of linguistic structures and functions, but also gives them a sense of accomplishment in communicative abilities at each stage of the learning process.

This course is an introduction to undergraduate writing skills focused on the discipline of international relations. It seeks to develop skills such as reading and analyzing academic literature, finding research questions, constructing arguments, reasoning, using evidence to support arguments, essay structuring, and so on. It does so through a careful analysis of selected texts in the IR field, through lectures about specific writing skills, as well as through the interactive development of in-class exercises and written assignments.
