Course Description

The course teaches students about the process of social innovation, and how do develop and work within a temporary innovation system. It explores how processes of social innovation are used to address key societal challenges, focusing on topics such as housing and homelessness or development of nature-based solutions for sustainable cities. Students learn how to engage with key individuals within the fields of social innovation and social change in Ireland and abroad, including academics, practitioners and activists, and record and disseminate their interaction with them.

This course explores the geological record of key groups of plant and animals, and what this reveals about their evolutionary biology. Course Description
This course introduces students to a variety of questions, methods, and concepts underlying Irish Studies, with particular focus on archaeology, historical archaeology, and social history. A central theme of the lectures and seminars is the complexity of the processes through which identity is constructed through time. The course asks a series of provocative and stimulating questions about ideas of Ireland and Irishness. The course also provides students with an understanding of the breadth of archaeological and historical knowledge and perspectives on “Ireland” and “Irishness"; the complex and dynamic ways in which Ireland and Irishness have been conceptualized; and facilitates engagement within the field of Irish Studies.

Course Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out a collaborative research study in small groups to perform a literature search on a given topic; design a short research study; collect responses to create a data set; analyze collected data, using descriptive analysis (for example, means and standard deviations) for inclusion in a final research report; and individually, to write a final research report. Computer-based workshops give students practical experience and competence in working with data entry and descriptive analysis.

The cinema of action and adventure encompasses a range of genres and incorporates the output and influences of a number of national traditions and industries. Writings about action and adventure likewise address theoretical frames as varied as gender and power, vengeance and manifest destiny, the philosophies of life and death, psychological trauma, and the socio-political positioning of discourses of cinema itself in both the popular and the scholarly context.
