About The Program
Take on an immersive French language study opportunity, complete with courses in French culture and an optional research project. Language classes are taught by professors specializing in teaching French as a second language, at levels from beginner to advanced. Bordeaux offers American students a welcoming atmosphere with its student-friendly vibe and manageable size. This UNESCO World Heritage city combines historic charm with modern amenities, making it easier for international students to adapt than in larger French cities. The city's extensive public transportation, dedicated bike lanes, and pedestrian-friendly streets make getting around simple and affordable. One of France's most elegant cities, Bordeaux is known for its stunning 18th-century architecture, world-famous wine culture, and celebrated food scene. The large student population (nearly 100,000) creates a lively atmosphere with plenty of cafes, markets, and cultural events. From here, you can easily explore the Atlantic coast's beautiful beaches, venture into wine country, or take a quick train ride to Spain or Paris.
Where you'll study
The University of Bordeaux has a culture of nurturing talent, innovation, and career outcomes. As UCEAP’s original student exchange since 1962, the University of Bordeaux has continued to refine its international strategy. It collaborates with universities around the world to develop programs taught in English and other languages. As one of only three universities in France with an Initiative of Excellence, or IdEx program, the university is driving a variety of globally important research challenges and projects. As an international visitor, this means more opportunities to collaborate with locals and access training that will carry you to a rewarding career. The university is made up of a number of separate entities organized together at one of the largest campuses in Europe.
