Dates and Eligibility
Program requirements are about helping you find your best match in a new academic setting abroad. As a University of California (UC) program, requirements are carefully set to ensure you can access as many programs as possible. At the same time, eligibility will help you narrow the choices and find a program where you can succeed and thrive. Here’s some basic criteria to start.
Are you…
- a registered, UC student?
- in good academic standing?
If you answered yes to both of these questions—good news! You meet the qualifications to apply to UCEAP. If you are unsure about some of these questions, check in with your advisor on campus.
Requirements
The following are minimum requirements to participate in this program. Some requirements are set by the host country, the host university, or third-party providers. Most requirements must be met at the time you apply. However, you have until departure to meet class level and language requirements. If you have questions, a study abroad advisor on campus can help.
Consult the UCEAP Spanish and Portuguese Language Prerequisite Guide. If you are unsure of what to provide in your application for the language eligibility requirement, contact your UC Campus Study Abroad Advisor for assistance.
If you do not meet the language requirement for this option, the Business and Economics in English option offers some coursework in English. Please review the course catalogue on the Academics Page to see whether this option aligns with your academic goals and to confirm if you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for the Business and Economics in English at the Faculdad Economia y Negocios (FEN) at the University of Chile.
This program is best suited for majors related to business and economics. Students should have completed all lower division requirements for the major and be prepared for upper division coursework by the time of departure.
No minimum, but a maximum of 5 quarters/3 semesters university-level Spanish at the time of departure. A beginner Spanish course prior to departure is recommended for those without any language background. Students with 2+ years of Spanish (6 quarters/4 semesters, or equivalent) must enroll in the regular semester track at the University of Chile; however, access to some of the Business and Economics courses in English will still be available to the regular semester track students.
