This course uses a thematic approach to select relevant original texts from the Confucian classics (including the Four Books, the Five Classics, the Analects of Confucius, and Mencius, and when necessary, the broader classics - the Thirteen Classics). The course aims to gain an appreciation for the beauty of Chinese characters and a deeper understanding of Confucianism and Chinese culture through reading these works.

This course covers the professional skills required for theater production management and marketing. At the same time, through practical simulations and theater company visits, students enhance their abilities in performance planning and execution. The teaching content includes the planning and coordination of performance projects, budget preparation, and writing of business plans; subsidy submission to public and private sectors, application for performance venue schedules, recruitment of performance staff, budget control, marketing and publicity, ticketing, public relations sponsorship, and relevant administrative affairs, etc. Onsite visits to theater troupes introduces core values and management methods of the performance team's operation.
This course also features professionals related to performing arts production or administration to speak to the class and share their practical experiences.
COURSE DETAIL
This one-unit elective course is designed for junior students in the Department of Chemistry who are interested in contemporary research in chemistry-related fields. The prerequisites for this course are General Chemistry (I)(II), Organic Chemistry (I)(II), and Analytical Chemistry (I)(II).
Students are expected to attend a weekly group seminar, and give one to two 30-minute oral presentations of literature review or their research progress. Students are not required to enroll in this course concurrently with Chem 3041: Research Training for Junior (I).
COURSE DETAIL
This course introduces and studies Kun Opera singing: voice, articulation, four-tone pattern, musical phrases, breath tone, vocal emotion, rhythm and frustration, etc. It also teaches an understanding and practical learning of Kun Opera body movements, including basic joint flexibility training, basic stage steps and lower body training, cloud hand (circle) training, and basic movements of fans and water sleeves. Finally, the course teaches Kun Opera "Performance," guiding students to understand how to apply the "stylized" basic movements of opera to the "drama" fragments: in the coordination of hand, eye and body steps, body rhythm and rhythm; among them, the use of eyes is the focus of this stage.

Entrepreneurial finance lies at the intersection of finance and entrepreneurship - two vastly different yet interconnected worlds. This course focuses on the study of financing young, innovative, growth-oriented companies, while providing an understanding of the fundraising cycle, from the inception of an entrepreneurial idea to investors' exit. The course also explores the variety of investors that can finance entrepreneurial companies and what motivates them, how they invest, and what support they can provide. The course is designed specifically for students from diverse backgrounds, focusing on providing essential background and foundational knowledge about entrepreneurial finance.

This course introduces common methods on climate/weather data processing via Python. It aims to guide students on how to get the information from climate/weather datasets by data visualization and instructs on how to use this information to finalize their own narrative.
The course consists of three stages:
First stage: Introduction and Basic Syntax of Python

The teaching and discussion scope of this course starts from the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties and then proceeds to the Tang and Song Dynasties. The discussion of this course starts with the concepts of body and mind and essence, energy and spirit in Taoism and Taoist thought as the main axis. Mainly through the reading of secondary materials studied by scholars, the course conducts thematic discussions and reflects on the relevant issues involved.

This course attempts to guide students to understand various aspects of Taiwan's modern art history through reading papers, historical materials, and actual inspections (appreciating works and on-site inspections). The course initially focuses on the transplantation and establishment of the art system in Taiwan. First, the course briefly explains the process of transplanting the concept and system of "art" to East Asia and introduces the art exhibition as the most important art exhibition in Taiwan's "art" system. The course starts from the perspective of "people" and tries to understand the representative artists and their creations related to "Taiwan" by reading papers and historical materials while analyzing them in different contexts and research perspectives.

As a part of advanced use of biological resources, this course explains the conversion and utilization technology of biomass to energy and materials. This course also refers to the latest technologies and diffusion trends on renewable energy and considers constructing a resource recycling society where renewable energy is utilized.

This course offers practical training in data science, focusing on high-dimensional data computing and dimension reduction algorithms. The characteristics of this course are the hands-on experience with high-performance computers and the observation of real data from a statistical perspective. Practical exercises will be conducted on high performance GPU servers on the cloud, possibly utilizing resources such as the NVIDIA V100 from our NTU or Google Colab. In addition to the hands-on exercises, statistical theories related to dimension reduction algorithms, data visualization, and data interpretation are introduced. The Python programming skills are taught during the first month as part of a combined and quick recap course. The course is taught in English, but bilingual Q&A sessions are acceptable.
