This course examines popular musical culture with an emphasis on musicological, sociological, and anthropological aspects. Other topics include: comparative folklore; how and why popular music should be studied; the songbooks and folklore missions in Spain; methods and procedures in ethnomusicological research; anthropology of music-- music in culture; reformulation of folklore; processes of transit and cultural contact. Pre-requisites: Musicology students with prior musical knowledge

This course analyzes the cultural construction of reality through different symbolic manifestations. It discusses contributions of symbolic anthropology to the understanding of cultural manifestations and processes, as well as the relationship between their material and symbolic dimensions. This course reflects on symbols, rituals, representation, expressiveness, worldview, mythology, magic, and the imaginary to understand the cultural and social processes of human groups.

This course provides a study of the history and evolution of the English language. It examines the major phases and commonly recognized periods of English, the main changes and characteristics of each phase, and the historical and cultural context in which they developed. Topics covered include: fundamentals of historical-comparative linguistics; English among the Germanic languages; migration of Germanic groups to England; Old English; Middle English; Modern English; late Modern English; Contemporary English and new perspectives on change.

This course offers a study of fundamental physics concepts. Topics include: kinematics; dynamics; work and energy; motion of a system of particles; rigid objects; relativity; oscillatory motion; kinematics of a harmonic oscillator; universal gravitation; fluids; thermodynamics. Pre-requisites: high school-level math and physics.

This course provides a study of the fundamentals of statistical inference such as probability distribution, point estimation, interval estimation, and hypothesis testing. Other topics include: sampling distributions; parameter estimation; confidence intervals; parametric hypothesis testing; ANOVA and nonparametric contrasts; Bayesian inference.

Topics in this graphic design course include: safety, hygiene, and good practices; introduction to the world of graphic communication; signage, the pictogram, the alphabet, and visual information; visual identity, sign, and signal; elaboration of iconic elements; elementary composition, theory of perception applied to visual communication; calligraphy, typography, and graphic arts; evolution of traditional concepts of graphic design to those of the 21st century.

Topics in this international business management course include: principles of international business; the process of internationalization of the company; international strategies; entry modes for international markets; implementing the internationalization of the company; internationalization of Spanish companies. Pre-requisites: minimum knowledge of strategic management and international markets.

This course offers an introduction to the field of psychology including concepts of human behavior as well as scientific research methods. It explores basic psychological processes including: attention, perception, motivation, emotion, negative and positive emotions, learning, memory, consciousness and its alterations, personality, etc. Additionally, this course discusses how scientific knowledge about human behavior and basic processes is applied to various specific fields of intervention in criminology: the study of lying, deception and simulation, ways to improve the memory of witnesses and victims, or the effect of traumatic events on the victims.

This course explores essential aspects of the theory and practice of design and introduces different concepts and methods of research, work, and presentation of ideas that make the development of complex design projects possible. Other topics include: design methods and creative processes; visual perception and aspects of form; design, meaning, and communication; use and context.
