Course Description
This course provides an examination of the historical development and the roles and responsibilities of mass media in Thailand. Through cross-cultural and comparative approaches, it analyzes the cause and effect relationships between mass media and state power during the changes and transformations of Thai society in a time of globalization. Other topics include mass media theories, media genres in Thai entertainment, music industry in Thailand, political censorship, national policies on media, the relationship between the media and the government, and media's rights.

Course Description
This course introduces the concepts of management and the roles, responsibilities, and skills required of modern managers and entrepreneurs. Course Description

This course is designed for students wishing to clarify and advance their career goals through an 8-week internship in Thailand. It provides a structured learning environment to help students make the most of their internship experience. While there are no regularly scheduled class meetings, internships are conducted under the close academic supervision of the School of Global Studies at Thammasat University. An assigned internship coordinator provides oversight and guidance for the duration of the internship. The course requires a minimum of 288 total work hours.

Course Description
The course provides a study of macroeconomic theory and its analytical approach to the economic system, as well as its application to economic problems and policies. The course examines the determination of equilibrium in product market, money market, and foreign exchange market with the use of IS-LM-BP model, as well as changes in equilibrium. Topics covered include interaction of product market and labor market, the model of aggregate demand and aggregate supply in closed and open economies, inflation, unemployment, the Phillips curve, stabilization policies, growth theory, New Keynesian economics, and the real business cycle theory.

Course Description
This course studies how pop culture has influenced the thought and behavior of societies in Britain and the United States from the 19th century to the present. It covers why pop culture emerges and how it relates to the changing social and political climate from that time period. It shows students theoretical approaches to definitions of popular culture and how to analyze their validity. Topics include Marxism, structuralism, semiology, hegemony and the role of the media, folk cultures in Britain and the United States, popular culture from the late 1920s and 1930s, blackface minstrelsy, racial constructs and jazz, the British class system, 1950s emergence of rock 'n' roll, 1960s and 1970s pop music and art as protest, youth subcultures in Britain and America, sports and the media, feminist approaches to pop culture, post modernism, and multiculturalism and globalization. Teaching methods include visual and audio aids including DVD excerpts, CDs, and computer downloads. Students are encouraged to express their opinions in discussions. Assessment: attendance and participation (20%), midterm (30%), final exam (50%).

Course Description

This course provides an interdisciplinary exploration of the social and political history of Thailand from pre-Ayutthaya (1351-1767) to the Thonburi/Bangkok period (1767-1782) to the modern nation-state of the present time. Emphasis is on the modern era when the country confronted western colonization, and its reactions from within, as well as a series of nationwide reforms, and the process of change and persistence of the nation-state up to the present.
