COURSE DETAIL
The course introduces students to the key terminologies, concepts, and applications of acrylic painting. Students receive one to one tuition on the choice of subject matter, the rendering of their drawing, the application of paint, and their approach to layering paint.
COURSE DETAIL
This course examines the basic skills and techniques associated with relief printing processes such as lino and woodcuts. Using a combination of autographic (drawing) and reprographic techniques, hand tools and machines, students will develop a body of work in the studio over the course of the semester. To complement the studio-based delivery, students will participate in lectures and tutorials contextualizing relevant conceptual, historical and contemporary practices.
COURSE DETAIL
This course experiments with and develops various graphic techniques and gestures including engraving, collage, dry techniques, washes, and mixed techniques. It also addresses the question of the nature and status of images (narration, illustration, expression, abstraction). Sessions are accompanied by image analyses to encourage students to be open to the many possible forms of representation. A personal notebook dedicated to graphic practices is kept throughout the year outside of class hours to develop liveliness and mastery of graphic gestures.
COURSE DETAIL
Designed to provide students with an in-depth exploration of the scientific principles and technological advancements that underpin the production, analysis, and innovation of textiles, this course bridges the gap between science and practical application, equipping students with a robust foundation to navigate the complex world of textiles in various industries. This course offers a comprehensive perspective on the development, manufacturing, and application of textiles, exploring their profound influence on design and construction of clothing. The characteristics of different fibers, yarns, fabrics, and finishes are investigated.
COURSE DETAIL
This course offers an advanced study of the natural, exploring various concepts of graphical representation of the model, such as chiaroscuro and line, among others. Topics include: artistic strategies based on body fragmentation; portrait issues; attitude and pose; the imaginary and the represented; body metaphors; the idea of reality; processes in drawing.
COURSE DETAIL
This course focuses on design of interactive systems for a wide range of environments such as computers, mobile devices, tablets, and touch environments and devices. Topics include: safety, hygiene, and best practices; electronic publishing and hypertext; web planning and design; interface and interaction; HTML; CSS; images on the web; optimization; audio and video.
COURSE DETAIL
This workshop focuses on the development of models, maquettes, and prototypes, and studies their relationship to a project. It covers types of maquettes, formal concept, and style in three-dimensional development; as well as materials, adhesives, tools, and machinery used in development. The course also explores creating digital files through three-dimensional scanning and materializing these creations using 3D printers.
COURSE DETAIL
This course introduces students to practical and experimental aspects of user interface design and programming, with the intention of demystifying the digital products we use in everyday life. Students will learn the fundamental principles of user interface design; use UI Design software such as Figma to make interactive prototypes, and write basic HTML/CSS/Javascript to create web interfaces. In addition to creating conventional user interface designs, students will be challenged to create interfaces that have conceptual and non-traditional outcomes that speak to their personal interests and motivations. In response to a partial history of User Interface design, students will be compelled to situate their work in the context of the development of Human Computer Interaction for art and design. This context will be given via in-class lectures, hands-on exercises, guest lectures, and a workshop.
