Course Description
“Value” represents one of the most visible terms and concepts in business today. But with that extensive visibility also comes errant interpretations and outright errors in analysis. This course, “M&V” is directed at providing students with insights into today’s leading analyses and techniques in the related areas of company valuation and merger valuation. The first refers to the defensible worth of the firm as based upon the most reliable and respected methodologies. The second represents the answer to the question, ‘Was this merger a success?’. Long subject to the whimsy of the observer, modern M&A valuation today is primarily oriented to the issue of returns for the acquiring firms continuing shareholders in relation to alternatives (cost of capital) and achievable synergies (post-close improvements).

Course Description

Accounting is the process of identifying, recording, and reporting economic activities and serves a vital role in our economy. It is a language that presents the financial condition of a business, non-business or other entity as well as how an entity performed financially in a given period. There are many people who rely on accounting information for their decision making, including investors, creditors, regulators as well as executives and managers who run businesses.

This course presents a fundamental framework and concept for financial accounting, which is used by for-profit business enterprises mainly in their external reporting. In any business, financial accounting is imperative; it is simply impossible to understand a business without understanding accounting. The objectives of this course are to 1) Understand the basic concept of financial accounting; (2) How it is processed, and (3) How it is used.

There are no prerequisites for this course. An accounting background or any specialized knowledge is not required.

Course Description
The development of new products, services, and processes is predominantly carried out in project groups. That means that people from different sectors of the organization are brought together on a temporary basis to accomplish a complex task. The project management part of this course offers an insight in the role of project management in different organizational contexts. Special attention is given to the following issues: project selection, the project manager, project planning, resource allocation, and project control. The process management part of this course deals with operation, strategy, and process management. We define a process to be any transformation that converts inputs to outputs. The process view considers any organization to be a process that consists of interconnected sub processes. This part of the course provides students with the basic concepts that enable them to describe processes in a way that allows them to apply "management levers" on those processes: process flow time, work-in-process, process-efficiency, and so forth.
